Ensuring families are heard, supported and empowered
Listening to Families
We gather the real-life experiences of parents and carers to understand the challenges they face. These insights help us advocate for better services and support. We collect feedback through:
- Surveys – to understand key issues affecting families.
- Meetings and events – including coffee mornings, workshops, and webinars.
- Focus groups – providing a space for parents and carers to share their views.
Providing Information
We help parents and carers navigate the SEND system by sharing:
- Clear, accessible information about rights, services, and support.
- Resources and tools to help families make informed decisions.
- Regular updates on changes that may affect SEND children and young people.
Creating a Supportive Community
SIV brings families together to reduce isolation and strengthen their knowledge, therefore empowering parent/carers.
We run:
- Workshops and training to help parents advocate for their children.
- Events and networking opportunities to connect families with each other and professionals.
